Welcome! I'm Neil, 80 years old sharing health wisdom before I die. You have pain...I have answers.
I have a passion to help you overcome acute & chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS/ME), osteoporosis and anxiety disorders including panic attacks and help you become the best body you can be

In 2018 I suffered my 5th osteoporotic fragility spinal fracture that left me unable to leave the house for 4 months and finally spelled an end to my business, Bodytopia™ Myotherapy.
Since my first osteoporotic fracture in 2010, I attempted many times to return to physically helping clients reduce and manage their pain from a wide range of common and sometimes uncommon, physical, emotional and mental health issues. I was known as "the therapist of last resort!". Clients and other manual therapists referred people me knowing my reputation for being able to help them when no-one else could. Sadly, my back would hold up for a while and then another spinal fracture would occur. I am now 11cm shorter than before my first injury, so severe is the crushing of my spine and my kyphosis (spinal curvature). My You Tube channel allows me to share health wisdom before I die. If you suffer chronic pain and ill health, I hope I can improve your day and life. You have pain, I have answers.

In forced retirement  from the injuries I passed on my client list to r
emedial massage therapist Sonoko Kurotani as her approach, knowledge and skills were the closest to mine. If you live in Melbourne, Australia and especially in the South Eastern suburbs as Bodytopia™ is situated in Burwood East, 3150, then consider seeing Sonoko for remedial massage.

.

My spinal injuries also ended my teaching career as I was unable to sit or stand for any length of time.
Since 2018 I joined U3A Nunawading where I teach classes in "Overcoming Chronic Pain Naturally"; Japanese food and culture, and how to take better photographs.

Now in my eightieth year I am starting two You Tube channels.
Why, to give back, to share my life experiences and my 35 years of clinical experience as a remedial massage therapist, myotherapist, acupuncturist and Tai Chi teacher. Hopefully I can help someone with their health and fitness through my
Neilsbodyworks Health channel. I don't expect that many people will ever view my You Tube channels, but that's OK, if one suggestion, one story, one treatment option helps just one person, then I will die happy.

My second You Tube channels,
"Ineverplannedto...." came about as I thought about leaving a legacy and encouraging other old geezers (my use of "geezers" applies to anyone) like myself to share stories of what life was like way back when or as my younger wife says when I share a story, a century ago!
Reflecting back, my life does seem to have had it's share of moments and so many people have asked me to write my autobiography. I love writing and have written technical papers, diploma and a degree course across for many subjects, and many teaching texts. Despite that, publishing is a pain from what I can see. That's where You Tube comes in. Quicker and easier to sit before a camera and tell my stories, share my knowledge and hit publish. Although in good health now for my age and feeling younger than I should, time is running out so the fastest option is the way to go I feel.

The title, Ineverplannedto.. came about when I realised in learning how to create a You Tube channel, that on reflection, very few major nor minor life events had been planned. What a revelation! I never planned to become a drummer or play in bands, nor become a teacher, nor a massage therapist let alone study Chinese medicine. I never planned to meet and chat with the Dalai Lama one-on-one in a field in Indonesia, nor travel to Morocco in a double decker bus to find a camel auction and meet Chief of Police for Morocco. Neither did I plan to travel on foot with a nomadic Bedouin tribe.
There was the time I was in Indonesia and the town I was staying in was buried under ash from a volcano eruption. My Dutch friend Nel in Holland took me to meet her friend who kept an American bison in his backyard as part of his zoo.
I have a thousand stories many more outrageous than these few.

Hopefully, again, that one person might find one of my You Tube stories interesting or it might inspire to be more spontaneous.
If you are younger than an old geezer you may find interest in how we travelled in the seventies. No mobiles, no internet, no mobile banking or credit cards, no Google maps. Often no-one would know where you were for weeks on end. Snail mail, remember people actually wrote letters once, could be collected every few months at something called "Post Restante" where the local post office held mail for you until collected.
If you have read this far, congratulations and thank you and welcome to my journey.
